PPSO Arrest Belle Chasse Man for Possession of Marijuana and Mushrooms

The Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office announces the arrest of Eduardo Barahona, 19, of Belle Chasse and a female juvenile for drug-based offenses that includes the Possession with the Intent to Distribute Hallucinogenic Plants and Schedule 1 Controlled Dangerous Substance (Marijuana).

On October 8, 2025, the PPSO District 1 Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle without a visible license plate in the 9100 block of Highway 23 in Belle Chasse. During the course of the traffic investigation, deputies discovered and seized an undisclosed amount of hallucinogenic plants (mushrooms), marijuana and "fruity pebbles" edible bars containing marijuana. A large amount of U.S. Currency was also discovered and seized along with 45 THC vapes.

Eduardo Barahona was charged with the following:

- Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule I CDS (Marijuana)

- Possession with the Intent to Distribute Hallucinogenic Plants (Mushrooms)

- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

- Encouraging the Delinquency of a Juvenile

- Improper Display of a License Plate

The female juvenile was charged with the following:

- Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule I CDS (Marijuana)

- Possession with the Intent to Distribute Hallucinogenic Plants (Mushrooms)

- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

- Resisting an Officer

"Please continue to monitor and talk to your children to keep them aware of these dangers. Not only were these two teenagers engaging in illegal activity by possessing and possibly selling marijuana and mushrooms, they were also using what appeared to be innocent snacks laced with marijuana along with vapes that contain THC," said Sheriff Turlich. "Great job to the all deputies involved in this case. Their proactive patrolling led to the removal of these illegal drugs from the streets of Plaquemines Parish."
