Assigned to the Drug Interdiction & Criminal Enforcement Unit, Lieutenant David McLean was nominated for the Enforcement Employee of the Quarter for his consistent display of leadership, experience and professionalism in accordance with the PPSO Mission. Along with being a confident leader that focuses on building a positive environment throughout all divisions within PPSO, Lieutenant McLean has led numerous investigations that have resulted in the arrests of known illicit narcotics suppliers, seizures of vehicles, large amounts of U.S. currency and firearms in the New Orleans area. Lieutenant McLean has been instrumental in implementing strategies and tactics that has saved PPSO thousands of dollars in funds typically used to facilitate undercover narcotics buys and controlled narcotics buys with informants while promoting a compassionate "customer service" mentality to not only the victims, but also the offenders he encounters. Lieutenant McLean has been serving Plaquemines Parish since 2010.

Monica Hutchison was selected as the Administrative Employee of the Quarter for her sustained performance since being transferred to the Plaquemines Parish Detention Center from the Purchasing Department. Hutchison has taken on and excelled at every duty and task assigned to her while displaying a positive attitude and willingness to learn in order to be more efficient at her responsibilities. Hutchison has also been proactive by showing initiative to learn the duties and responsibilities of others to assist when necessary. Hutchison's positivity spreads to everyone she comes in contact with and has been a great addition to the PPDC staff. Hutchison has been employed with PPSO since January of 2012.

Assigned to the Special Investigations Unit within PPDC, Sergeant Detective Glenn Smith was chosen as the Corrections Employee of the Quarter for diligently executing his duties which resulted in multiple investigations and charges filed against numerous inmates that violated the law. Sergeant Smith has initiated and supervised multiple dorm and cell searches which have yielded positive results. Sergeant Smith has also developed a positive relationship with the Plaquemines Parish District Attorney's to provide the necessary information and evidence to assist in the prosecution of inmates that commit crimes in PPDC. Sergeant Smith consistently displays a great attitude and approaches his duties and responsibilities with passion and commitment. Sergeant Smith has been serving with PPSO since May of 2018.

"Although the recipients of this quarter are assigned to different divisions handling vastly different responsibilities, there's a very important commonality associated with each one... leadership," said Sheriff Turlich. "Attributes like leadership, ambition and self-initiative will guide all employees within PPSO to provide the best, most efficient service for the citizens of Plaquemines Parish."

Join Sheriff Turlich and PPSO in congratulating Lieutenant David McLean, Monica Hutchison and Sergeant Detective Glenn Smith on their accomplishment and a job well done.
