Belle Chasse, LA - On April 13, 2021, Chevron Oronite Oak Point made a monetary contribution to continue their support of the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office (PPSO) Seniors And Law-Enforcement Together (SALT) Program. The substantial $5,200 contribution will be paired with preceding 2020 contribution funds from Oak Point that were unable to be executed due to the pandemic for a program total support of $12,500. These funds support seasonal events, quarterly conferences and educational seminars as well as safety resources.

Peggy Ramey, Oak Point Corporate Affairs Advisor, presented Sheriff Gerald "Jerry" Turlich Jr. and SALT Program Director Glenda Jenkins with the donation at the PPSO Administration Building in Belle Chasse. Despite the undeniable impact from the COVID-19 pandemic in the past year, PPSO and Chevron officials vowed to continue providing pertinent information and resources to the senior citizens of Plaquemines Parish while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.

Brett Cooley, General Manager of Chevron Oronite Americas Manufacturing & Supply said, "Oak Point is pleased to continue to support the SALT program and commends the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office for organizing this community program to educate, advocate and inform our senior citizens in the parish."
"The safety and well-being of our senior citizens is our utmost priority," said Sheriff Turlich. "It's imperative that we continue to provide the most up-to-date information to protect our senior citizens while ensuring a safe and healthy atmosphere to socialize."

The PPSO SALT Program launched in May of 2017 and focuses on communication and education between the seniors of our community and the sheriff's office addressing issues such as - Legal issues, Health issues, Financial issues, Power of Attorney, Elder Abuse, Fraud Prevention and many more.
