Hurricane Ida Lockdown 2021

OFFICIAL NEWS RELEASE
For Immediate Release

Tuesday, August 31, 2021, 11:30 p.m.

Belle Chasse, LA - Sheriff Jerry Turlich, with the cooperation of the Plaquemines Parish Government, announces Plaquemines Parish will initiate a complete lockdown effective tomorrow, September 1, 2021, at 6 a.m.

With Plaquemines Parish losing water service tonight accompanied with an uncertain timeline of power restoration and depleted resources parish-wide, the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office (PPSO) will conduct roadblocks/checkpoints at every entry point into parish on the eastbank and westbank. Only Plaquemines Parish residents and individuals/businesses directly involved in the recovery efforts following Hurricane Ida will be allowed to enter. Identification must be presented in order to enter the parish. This will be a 100% requirement with no exceptions.

With major traffic delays expected entering the parish, please allow yourself a sufficient amount of time to safely reach your destination. Continuation of the parish-wide lockdown will be reevaluated daily based on the restoration of essential services for the residents of Plaquemines Parish. The active parish-wide curfew will also continue from dusk to dawn until further notice.

A press conference to elaborate on the current state of Plaquemines Parish following Hurricane Ida is scheduled for tomorrow, September 1, at 2pm at the Plaquemines Parish Government Complex located at 333 F. Edward Hebert Boulevard, Building 100 (Administration Building).
