Port Sulphur, LA - Sheriff Gerald A. Turlich, Jr. would like to take this opportunity to thank the Safe Fleet Houston Office for purchasing and donating supplies to the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office (PPSO) following Hurricane Ida.

On Tuesday, September 28, Major Michael Martin, Commander of the PPSO Internal Affairs Division, received assorted supplies from the Safe Fleet Regional Sales Executive, Michael Brown, and delivered the donation to the PPSO District 2 Substation in Port Sulphur. Following the circumstances associated with Hurricane Ida, Safe Fleet donated items such as blankets, air mattresses, pillows and bedding linens for PPSO employees displaced or stationed away from their residence.

"With the lower end of Plaquemines Parish on the westbank being cut off due to the storm surge from Hurricane Ida, deputies assigned DTR had to remain in place in the days following landfall," said Sheriff Turlich. "This donation will make PPSO personnel that may be displaced more comfortable while adding to our inventory in the event we are faced in a similar situation in the future."
