Belle Chasse, LA - Sheriff Gerald A. Turlich, Jr. announces that Plaquemines Parish residents, Felix Mackey, 30, and Whitley Demolle, 33, have been indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on February 4, 2022, on various federal charges. Mackey is facing seven charges; Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances, three counts of Distribution of Methamphetamine, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime while Demolle faces one count of Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances and one count of Distribution of Methamphetamine.

An extensive investigation conducted by Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office (PPSO) Investigators, in coordination with PPSO Agents assigned to the DEA and Westbank Major Crimes Task Force, revealed Mackey and his girlfriend, Demolle, were involved in a substantial drug trafficking and distribution operation that included multiple jurisdictions in the New Orleans area. As a habitual offender, it was determined Mackey was transporting methamphetamine, cocaine hydrochloride and crack cocaine into Plaquemines Parish while in possession of a firearm. This danger to the community prompted the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office (PPSO), through its participation on the Federal DEA Task Force, to seek charges leading to the indictment of Mackey and Demolle by a Federal Grand Jury on February 4, 2022.

"We will remain vigilant and proactive with pursuing any individuals attempting to distribute illegal narcotics or conduct any other criminal activity in our community," said Sheriff Turlich. "Our main priority is the safety and protection of the residents of Plaquemines Parish. Participating in multi-jurisdictional task forces is a vital component of accomplishing these goals."
