PPSO Arrest Habitual Offender for Simple Burglary of a Business in Belle Chasse

𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲, 𝗟𝗔 - Sheriff Gerald A. Turlich, Jr. announces the arrest of Ellis Ellison, 52, of Westwego for Simple Burglary and Simple Criminal Damage of a business in Belle Chasse.

On Saturday, October 15, 2022, at approximately 6:30am, Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office (PPSO) deputies responded to the business of 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗹𝗳 located on Woodland Highway regarding a possible burglary. PPSO District 1 Patrol deputies arrived to discover the front glass door of the business to be completely shattered. Utilizing multiple investigative methods and resources, PPSO detectives were able to identify Ellison as the suspect of the burglary. On October 18, detectives with PPSO and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, who were also conducting multiple investigations with Ellison as a suspect, were able to locate and conduct surveillance on Ellison who allegedly burglarized another business in the Algiers area. Ellison was stopped and arrested in Jefferson Parish and will be booked for simple burglary and simple criminal damage of the Bad Wolf incident along with multiple burglary charges in Jefferson Parish. Since 1990, Ellison has been charged with Simple Burglary 39 times in the New Orleans metropolitan area and has been on parole since December of 2019 for Simple Burglary.

"Great job by all deputies and detectives from all agencies during this joint investigation. We will continue to work hard to assure those responsible are arrested for their actions," said Sheriff Jerry Turlich. "This suspect has been charged with burglary almost forty times. As a society, we need to make changes that ensure habitual offenders are held accountable for their crimes until they display overwhelming and consistent behavior in accordance with the law."

Ellison is currently in custody at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center for unrelated charges and will be transported and booked at the Plaquemines Parish Detention Center upon release. This is an ongoing investigation as additional charges and/or arrests may be pending.
