PPSO Arrest Four Port Sulphur Men in Connection to a Port Sulphur Shooting

Belle Chasse, LA - Sheriff Gerald A. Turlich, Jr. announces the arrest of Victor Battle (19), Taighan Jones (19), Damaurian Tyler (20) and Albert Vereen (20) of Port Sulphur with one count of Illegal Discharge of a Firearm and one count of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm each in connection to a shooting in Port Sulphur.

On the evening of January 15, Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office (PPSO) District II Patrol deputies responded to the area of Milan Drive in Port Sulphur after receiving reports of gunshots. The subsequent investigation by PPSO detectives identified Battle, Jones, Tyler and Vereen as being involved in the exchange of gunfire on Milan Drive after an argument on a social media site. Despite approximately 40 rounds being discharged, there were not any injuries as a result of this incident. Battle was arrested on-scene while Jones, Tyler and Vereen voluntarily turned themselves in today without incident.

Although it appears Battle, Jones, Tyler and Vereen were the only individuals involved in this incident, this is currently an ongoing investigation. If you have any additional information regarding this incident, please contact the PPSO Criminal Investigations Bureau at 504-934-6820.
