Sheriff Gerald A. Turlich Jr. is honored to announce the recipients of the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office (PPSO) “Employee of the Year” awards from the July 2018 – June 2019 fiscal year.

Deputy Charles “C.J.” Seruntine was selected as the PPSO Enforcement “Employee of the Year” after being awarded the “Deputy of the Quarter” from October – December 2018. During that period, Deputy Seruntine participated in two separated interventions involving mentally ill justice involved subjects. Both incidents involved individuals who were attempting to commit suicide and Deputy Seruntine’s interventions, with the assistance of responding deputies, resulted in a safe outcome. Deputy Seruntine is currently assigned to the District 2 Patrol Division and has been serving Plaquemines Parish since 2017.

Dispatcher Coretta Espadron was selected as the PPSO Administrative “Employee of the Year” after being awarded the “Administrative Employee of the Quarter” from July – September 2018. Assigned to the Communications section of the Support Services Division, Coretta showcased her experience and professionalism during a stressful incident where a deputy was disarmed while engaged with a wanted suspect. Coretta’s quick-thinking was vital in relaying the necessary information to responding officers to assist the deputy during the violent encounter. Espadron has been employed with PPSO for over four years.

Correctional Deputy Colby Albro was selected as the PPSO Correctional “Employee of the Year” after being awarded the “Correctional Employee of the Quarter” from January – March 2019. Deputy Albro was instrumental during contraband inspections of the Plaquemines Parish Detention Center (PPDC) mail and recognized for his outstanding performance and leadership as the day shift relief supervisor. Notably, Deputy Albro recently completed the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Level I Academy and has been using his training to mentor new employees. Deputy Albro has been serving Plaquemines Parish within the PPDC since 2017.

“Positive intervention during mental health incidents, teamwork and professionalism to assure officer safety and leadership were the attributes highlighted with these three well-deserved recipients,” said Sheriff Turlich. “I congratulate Deputy Seruntine, Deputy Albro and Coretta for their hard work and dedication to our community as we’re honored to include and recognize employees from the Plaquemines Parish Detention Center with this annual prestigious award.”

Join Sheriff Turlich and PPSO with congratulating Deputy Charles Seruntine, Coretta Espadron and Correctional Deputy Colby Albro for their contributions to the department and the community.
