In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation that designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. We take this week to honor and pay tribute to those law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice to make our community and nation - and all its citizens - safer and more secure.

 

Sheriff Jerry Turlich and the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office are grateful for all the dedicated men and women that chose to protect and serve the community of Plaquemines Parish as we remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice.
