PPSO Books Port Sulphur Man with Possession of Crack Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute; Possession of Stolen Firearm

Sheriff Gerald A. Turlich Jr. announces the arrest of Nelson Williams, 21, of Port Sulphur with Possession of a Schedule II CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substance) with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana, Illegal Use of a Firearm while in Possession of CDS, Possession of Stolen Firearm, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution.

After an extensive investigation, the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office (PPSO) Narcotics Division secured and executed a search warrant on September 5 at the known residence of Williams in Port Sulphur. The executed search warrant yielded the discovery of an undisclosed amount of Crack Cocaine and Marijuana within the residence along with a firearm determined to be reported stolen in Plaquemines Parish. Williams was also in possession of paraphernalia consistent with illegal narcotics distribution along with a large amount of US Currency. After arriving at the Plaquemines Parish Detention Center, deputies conducted an extensive search of Williams, who is currently confined to a wheelchair, and discovered he was in possession of an additional undisclosed quantity of Crack Cocaine.

“This is the result of a strong relationship with our community and the meticulous efforts of our Narcotics Division,” said Sheriff Turlich. “Because of this cooperation, we’ve arrested a local drug dealer while removing dangerous illegal drugs from our streets and recovered a stolen gun. Together we will continue to improve the quality of life for all citizens in Plaquemines Parish.”
