Sheriff Gerald A. Turlich Jr. is honored to recognize Lieutenant Troy Smith for successfully completing the 278th Session of the FBI National Academy.

On December 20, 2019, two hundred and fifty-two students graduated from the eleven-week academy in Quantico, Virginia. The 278th Session consisted of members from law enforcement agencies from across the nation along with 45 international students. The instruction included academic courses such as advanced communication, leadership and fitness training. Over 52,000 graduates now represent the alumni of the FBI National Academy since it began in 1935.

FBI Director Christopher Asher Wray was the principal speaker at the ceremony.

"I would like to congratulate Troy for this amazing accomplishment," said Sheriff Turlich. "Not only is the FBI National Academy challenging mentally, but he had to endure the rigorous physical requirements over the course of the session. Training of this caliber will only assist us in providing the best possible service to the citizens of Plaquemines Parish."

Lieutenant Troy Smith is currently assigned to the District 2 Patrol Division with over 22 years of law enforcement service along with ten years of service with the United States Army. PPSO congratulates Lieutenant Smith on his accomplishment.
