Three PPSO Deputies Receive "Officer of the Year" Community Recognition Awards

Sheriff Gerald A. Turlich Jr. would like to recognize Sergeant David McLean, Detective Sergeant Brett Taylor and Lieutenant Jimmy Bartholomew for being awarded the 2019 Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office (PPSO) "Officer of the Year."

On December 12, 2019, Traffic Division Sergeant David McLean received the community recognition award from Phillips 66 Alliance Refinery and Belle Chasse Rotary Club during the organizations' 6th Annual Plaquemines Parish Community Recognition Luncheon held in Belle Chasse. The event honored several public safety and education professionals in our community that go above and beyond to positively impact Plaquemines Parish. Sergeant McLean has been serving Plaquemines Parish with PPSO since 2010.

Detective Sergeant Brett Taylor received his award on December 4, 2019, from the Westbank Optimist Club during their annual banquet held at the Four Columns in Harvey, Louisiana. Sergeant Taylor was instrumental in resolving the 1978 cold case homicide of Karleen Jones that was committed by notorious serial killer, Samuel Little. Sergeant Taylor has been assigned to the Investigations Bureau since 2013.

District 2 Patrol Lieutenant Jimmy Bartholomew received his award from Pastor Steve McNeal of the Venice First Baptist Church during their 10th Annual Emergency Responders Appreciation Day held at the First Baptist Church in Venice, Louisiana. Lieutenant Bartholomew was chosen for his sustained performance and outstanding service within the community. Lieutenant Bartholomew has been serving with PPSO since 2003.

"Congratulations to David, Brett and Jimmy on this well-deserved honor," said Sheriff Turlich. "Thank you to Phillips 66, the Belle Chasse Rotary Club, the Westbank Optimist Club and Venice First Baptist Church for taking the time to recognize these deputies for their hard work within our community."

PPSO congratulates Sergeant David McLean, Sergeant Brett Taylor and Lieutenant Jimmy Bartholomew for being recognized and honored with these prestigious awards.
