For Immediate Release
On Tuesday, December 10, 2019, Belle Chasse resident, Nihad Monem, made a monetary donation to the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office (PPSO) dedicated to officer safety.
Mr. Monem met with Sheriff Gerald A. Turlich Jr. and Lieutenant Eric Becnel, Director of Training, at the PPSO Administration Building located in Belle Chasse, where he was advised the generous donation was used to purchase a TASER Conducted Electrical Weapon.
"I wanted to take this opportunity to contribute to the safety of the men and women who protect Plaquemines Parish," said Mr. Monem. "It's because of them that we live in such a great community and I just wanted to show my appreciation and support."
"Less lethal tools such as a TASER provides us with the opportunity to deescalate potentially violent situations before they get out hand," said Sheriff Turlich. "I would like to thank Mr. Monem for his donation and for again proving that the relationship between PPSO and our community has never been stronger."
