Sheriff Gerald A. Turlich Jr. is honored and proud to announce the recipients of the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office (PPSO) Employees of the Quarter from April - June 2020 as well as the "Employees of the Year" from the 2019 - 2020 fiscal year. The quarterly award program recognizes an employee in an enforcement position and an administrative role along with a correctional employee at the Plaquemines Parish Detention Center (PPDC).

Deputy Mikayla Denny was chosen as the enforcement deputy of the 4th quarter for her sustained performance since joining PPSO in April of 2019. Assigned to the District 1 Patrol Division, Deputy Denny has consistently displayed a great work ethic and positive attitude which led her to be submitted for the quarterly award for three of the four quarters during the past fiscal year.

Currently assigned to the Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB), Julie Brown was selected as the administrative employee of the quarter for her dual role as secretary and investigative assistant to both the Detective Bureau and the Narcotics Unit. Julie works daily alongside CIB investigators and coordinates the management of case files for submission to the Criminal Records Division and the Plaquemines Parish District Attorney's Office. Julie has proven herself as an asset to PPSO by actively assisting investigators in the field while creating numerous documents which have streamlined the administrative process. Julie has been serving with PPSO since 2014.

Security Supervisor Wilfred Antoine was chosen as the correctional employee of the 4th quarter for going above and beyond his assigned duties in the PPSO Reentry Program by providing actionable intelligence that resulted in the seizures of contraband. These cases resulted in the arrest of numerous individuals involved in a conspiracy to introduce contraband into the PPDC. Antoine's assistance to the PPDC Special Investigations Unit resulted in numerous investigations. Antoine began his career with PPSO within the PPDC in October of 2016.

After the completion of the fiscal year, the recipients from each quarter are submitted where a committee of their peers select the "Employees of the Year." For the 2019 - 2020 fiscal year, Julie Brown and Wilfred Antoine were voted as the employees of the year along with Deputy Ryan Shackelford, who is currently assigned to the District 2 Patrol Division. Deputy Shackelford was selected as the enforcement deputy of the quarter from January - March of 2020.

"The dedication and commitment shown by these award recipients along with all PPSO employees, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, is admirable," said Sheriff Turlich. "I'm lucky to be surrounded by a great team that provides exemplary service to the citizens of Plaquemines Parish. Congratulations to Ryan, Wilfred, Julie and Mikayla on this well deserved honor."

Join Sheriff Turlich and PPSO in congratulating Deputy Ryan Shackelford, Deputy Mikayla Denny, Julie Brown and Wilfred Antoine on their accomplishments and a job well done.
